$30M Secured with Speedtest® Data
To ensure rural Louisianans weren’t overlooked, the Acadiana Planning Commission (APC) used Ookla® Speedtest data to challenge existing FCC broadband maps. By showing real-world gaps in coverage, APC proved thousands of residents did not have internet access unserved. Their data-backed case earned a $30 million federal grant to expand high-speed internet, moving the region closer to eliminating the digital divide.

$17M Awarded with Accurate Broadband Maps
Loudoun County’s broadband availability was overstated in FCC data, but residents knew better. The Loudoun Broadband Alliance used Speedtest Intelligence® and local surveys to uncover over 8,000 unserved households. Using Ookla’s data, the alliance created an accurate broadband map that helped secure more than $17 million in funding, proving that accurate, real world data drives results.

Launching the First Free Broadband Map Store
Policy makers in the United States need accurate, up-to-date broadband coverage maps to determine which communities are underserved and to better understand where resources can provide the most impact on connectivity. South Carolina partnered with Revolution D and Ookla® to build the U.S.'s first public broadband map store, helping localities and providers secure grants. As a result, over 30,000 residents and 12,500 homes are projected to gain broadband access.

Mapping Gaps to Fuel Mobile Connectivity Investment
Despite what FCC maps claimed, Vermonters still struggled with mobile connectivity along major federal and state-funded roadways. The state’s Department of Public Service used Ookla Cell Analytics™ and Wind® to collect real-time data along 6,500+ miles of roadway. The public results influenced a $10 million proposal to build 20 new cell towers in underserved areas.

Identify Unserved and Underserved Areas for Investment
Using crowdsourced, real-world data, governments can pinpoint areas in need of broadband and mobile investment to improve access and service quality:
- Map service availability and performance to find connectivity gaps and identify areas for improvement
- Filter metrics by operator to assess the performance of specific ISPs in targeted regions
- Use crowdsourced data to secure grants or challenge funding decisions
Showcase Network Improvements
Measure the impact of policies and investments to ensure infrastructure improvements align with performance goals and community needs:
- Monitor network improvements and broadband progress over time, benchmarked against regional and global standards
- Access historical performance and coverage data to identify trends and predict future needs
- Confirm whether funded broadband projects are meeting expectations and highlight connectivity improvements

Map Broadband Performance to Inform Planning Decisions
Integrate network performance insights into Speedtest Hosted Layers for ArcGIS to support smarter connectivity planning and funding strategies:
- Visualize real-world network performance, quality, and availability metrics, including download speed, upload speed, latency, and jitter for all network providers in an area
- Accelerate time-to-value by removing complex data ingestion and integration workflows
- Conduct multi-layer analyses by combining connectivity data with other datasets, such as population, income, and data on anchor institutions
Ensure Public Safety with Resilient Networks
Build resilient networks that protect public safety, reduce service disruptions, and ensure critical connectivity during emergencies.
- Monitor network vulnerabilities and disruptions before, during, and after disasters
- Establish enforceable guidelines for providers to maintain and report on network reliability
- Collaborate with telecom providers to proactively prevent outages and enhance public safety communications

Providing crowdsourced and controlled drive and walk surveys for unmatched insights
